Meet the Musicians

Jason Cartmell

Jason Cartmell – Guitar, Vocals

Jason is the epitome of a classic rock guitarist who’s influences stretch from Pink Floyd to Eric Clapton, from Jimi Hendrix to Chet Atkins, and especially Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits as demonstrated by his finger-style electric guitar technique.

His early life in Ohio gave a midwestern root to his artistry and a strong connection to family and home. His passion for aviation and music has taken him all over the world, and allowed him to work with many of the greats.

Today he lives in Fort Worth Texas where he enjoys his family, his music, and sunset guitar sessions on his back porch while throwing the ball for his dog, Tucker.

Jason can be seen playing his solo show, or in either of his two bands, The Jason Cartmell Band and Rockstrocity. He also enjoys the occasional local area open mic as well as fill in work with other local bands.

Joel Box

Beat Box – Drums

Mr. Box was born to play, and so it began at the age of 6. He was in a drum and bugle corp at the Arlington Boys Club, and played in the concert band in junior high. His early influences included all the rock greats like John Bonham, Neil Peart, Barrymore Barlow, Buddy Rich, etc. Wanting to play like them, he got his first kit at a garage sale for $75 and it was on!

Drumming took a pause later in life as his family came along, and babies and drums didn’t mix. It didn’t take long, however, before he hooked up with a garage band in the early 2000s and kept at until they got good enough to play some gigs, and the musical break was over.

Mr. Box has been seen playing around the DFW area with multiple bands ever since, and got involved with Jason Cartmell Music in 2017. He has kept the beat with his upbeat attitude and killer rhythms ever since.

Eric Zukoski

EZ. E. – Bass

Eric has extensive performance and recording experience as an electric and upright bassist including four years and two albums as bassist for a multi-CMA and Grammy winning recording artist, recordings with a Handy award winner and a Blues Foundation Award winner, and dozens of radio and television credits. Eric was influenced by the early bass legends of jazz, Motown and rock, and strives to emulate the rhythm section foundation created by these brilliant musicians.

Terry Parrish

2 Cool 4 School – Saxophone, Flute, Percussion

Terry Parrish is a performer and music educator with over 50 years of experience and is director emeritus in the Eagle Mountain/Saginaw Independent School District where he taught wind band for 34 years. Terry began playing saxophone at age 11 and was performing steadily by age 16. He has years of experience playing country, rock, pop, big band, Latin tropical, Caribbean steel drum and jazz music. He’s performed throughout the southwest United States and in Mexico. He was a member of the Mal Fitch Orchestra for 13 years and lead his own five piece jazz group in Dallas for over 10 years at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. Parrish continues to teach privately and mentor in EMSISD. After retiring from the “road and the classroom”, Terry has found a new passion, performing with Jason Cartmell’s Rockstrocity and is grateful for every opportunity to perform with this eclectic and energetic group of outstanding musicians.
